Wednesday was another great day for skiing with perfectly groomed trails and sunny skies. It doesn’t get much better then this.

Next Wednesday, Feb.27 we are at Horseshoe Resort and the forecast looks good. This is the day we are going to have the Prediction Race. You should have got a flyer in the mail by now mailed from The City of Toronto. You can get additional information of the event from Vicki but in simple terms it works like this: 1) The trail we will use is the Yellow trail on the West Trails. This trail is 3.8 km and rated beginners. You can find the
trail maps here. 2) You ski the Yellow trail at your own pace and record the time it takes. 3) Based on the time you had, which you do not have to reveal, you tell the time keepers what time you Predict you will get in the “race”. 4) The time keeper will take any watch you carry and send you off “racing” on the Yellow trail, one skier at the time. 5) The skier who comes closest to their Predicted time wins the gold in their respective class and the right to participate in next years Ontario Seniors Game. That’s it.

Participate and have fun.

Horseshoe Wednesday February 27th

Another great day for skiing despite the very cold weather. The sun certainly helped to make this day one of the best outings this year.

The much “anticipated” Prediction Race was also a success with lots of thanks going to the girls that were time keepers in the cold weather. The results were:

Women:
Gold: Maebeth
Silver: Andria

Men:
Gold: Gosta
Silver: Doug
Bronze: Paul

The above members also qualified for the Ontario Seniors Games 2009 which could turn out to be an “all in the family” affair for the Moon’s. Well done!
Wednesday March 5 spent at Centennial Park

Freda reported that it was quite a morning with the blowing snow. Things cleared up after lunch of course.

"23 skiers and the bus showed up at the Chalet, amidst the snowstorm. Our bus driver Glen was ready to go but warned us of the bad road conditions and that we might spend more time on the bus than skiing.

We had a vote and at Peggy's suggestion we decided to ski at the park and have our lunch at the Chalet. There was lots of snow and Peggy set the track and everybody seemed to enjoy it.  We even stopped at the Conservatory to see the flowers before finishing the skiing. "

In addition to Freda’s report, Gosta, who was staying in Collingwood, can confirm that the right decision was made. Even though the snow let up and the sun came out in the afternoon the wind had covered the tracks. The chalet at Scenic Caves was open but there were no skiers.
This is the Weatherman's preview of next Wednesday.
The 2009 Ski Season is upon us.

January 5th we will be at Centennial park and our First Bus Trip is to Highlands Nordic on Wednesday January 7th.
