Ski Trip, Wednesday February 6, 2008
The day started at 5:30AM when Freda got a phone call from the bus driver wanting to know if the trip was on. After waking up Gosta and together checking the weather radar pictures they decided that the trip was a go.
Even with many schools closed and school buses cancelled 21 of us braved the conditions and boarded the bus at Centennial Park. On the way north we made a quick decision about a change in venue after we phoned Horseshoe from the bus and were informed that their conditions were not that great. Knowing from the Hardwood website that they had groomed the trails overnight, they were called and we were told that they would welcome us with open arms to good skiing conditions.
We had an easy drive up north and ended up with a good day of skiing. The trails were well groomed and rather fast. Some very gentle snow fell during our stay which made it picture perfect. Please see the pictures. Everyone had fun skiing the various trails and the drive south at the end of the day was smooth and fast.
The weather forecast was right on this time and we caught the break between the storms just perfect for the ski trip up north. Maybe a little bit of luck was added in there somewhere to make it a really nice day. |
